Starting from March 15, waterborne customs clearance is fully open! Chinese export goods can be picked up as soon as they arrive at the port, with efficiency improved by 50%.

Good news is coming! Starting from March 15, Brazil will officially implement the 'water customs clearance' mode nationwide, completely breaking the traditional customs clearance barriers and opening a 'fast track' for goods exported from China to Brazil. The efficiency of customs clearance will directly increase by 50%. This wave of policy benefits must be seized!

Interpretation of the New Policy Core: What exactly is 'Maritime Customs Clearance'?

Simply put, 'maritime customs clearance' means that all document checks can be completed in advance while the goods are still en route by sea, without having to wait until the goods arrive at the port to queue for declaration and verification.

In the traditional customs clearance mode, documents could only be submitted and verified after the goods arrived at the port. During peak seasons or when there were minor discrepancies in the documents, it often caused delays of 3-7 days or even longer. With the implementation of the new policy, customs declaration materials can be submitted in advance to the Brazilian customs system while the ship is sailing, completing pre-review, tax calculation, and other processes. Once the goods arrive at the port, they can be released and picked up directly, truly achieving “pick up upon arrival at the port”.

Three Concrete Benefits for Chinese Companies Exporting to Brazil

This is not a 'superficial' policy, but directly affects every exporter in terms of cost, efficiency, and risk. Each point can help you save worry, money, and time!

Efficiency Doubled, No Congestion: Customs clearance efficiency is directly increased by 50%. A process that used to take 10 days can now be completed in as fast as 5 days, completely eliminating port queue congestion and significantly shortening the overall logistics cycle.

Reduced Additional Costs: Goods can be picked up immediately upon arrival at the port without long-term storage, effectively reducing additional expenses such as storage fees, container detention fees, and port stay fees. This is especially cost-saving for companies shipping full containers, as it can save a substantial amount.

Lower Customs Clearance Risks: Pre-examination of documents allows customs to point out issues before the goods arrive at the port, facilitating timely corrections. This helps avoid detention and fines caused by document inconsistencies, reducing the risk of customs clearance failures and ensuring smooth delivery of goods.

Which goods are applicable?

The new Brazilian waterborne customs clearance policy covers a wide range of goods. It is applicable to regular cargo shipped by sea, whether full container load or less-than-container load (including 3C accessories, small home appliances, textiles, hardware, daily necessities, and other popular categories exported from China to Brazil).
